Mabie Todd Swan 6241 Green Marble

Regular price £95.00

The Mabie Todd Swan 6241 was made in the late 1930s.  Finished in Marbled Green with Gold filled trim, this is an outstanding example.

The pen has been fully serviced and tested, no restoration, apart from a new ink sac, was required as the pen showed little signs of use.  The surface is excellent as is the Gold filling to the clip and double cap bands.  The pen is a little more vivid green than it appears in the photographs.  The barrel imprint is very crisp and clear and the Mabie Todd Swan logo is clearly outlined in white on the end of the cap.

After a new ink sac was fitted, the old one had hardened with age, the pen was thoroughly teated.  It takes up a good volume of ink with a single operation of the lever and the 14 Ct Gold Swan No. 2 nib writes with a smooth medium line with a nice flex.  It gives good line variation but the pen can also be used 'conventionally' with a very light touch.  A person with a decent 'hand' would enjoy some excellent results.

The Mabie Todd 6421 is a high quality pen with a good deal of prestige.  It pen would make a first class every day vintage writer.  It is also a strikingly attractive and tactile pen.
