Onoto 5601 in Black. Fully restored.

Regular price £195.00

The Onoto 5601 'The Pen' was made around the end of the 1930s in Scotland.  This fully restored example is in superb condition throughout.

The pen is made in black chased celluloid with a chrome, or nickel plated trim.  The chasing is still crisp and sharp, indcating that the pen has seen relatively little use.  The surface has a good shine and the barrel imprint is crisp and clear.

The plunger filling system, fitted with new seals, works on a single downward stroke of the plunger.  The nib is 14 Ct. Gold, also stamped 3/ST, it has a medium to broad point and a nice flex, giving good line variation and character to the writing.  It's a pity I don't have the skills to show it off.

Onoto pens are an example of English pen making at its very best, they are now very collectable.  It is rare to find one with fully intact chasing.
