Conway Stewart 100

Regular price £325.00

The Conway Stewart 100 was the largest, fattest, and most prestigious of all the post war Conway pens.  It was produced between 1954 and 1958 and was only made in black.

This is a very fine example, it has been serviced, fitted with a new ink sac, the correct no. 20, and fully tested.  The old ink sac, which had hardened  with age, was identifiable as the original Conway Stewart sac, showing that this was the first restoration and that the pen had not been used for a few decades.

The box is new and unbranded but will serve well for protection, transport, and display.

The pen has an excellent surface and, although the black enamel on the cap stud is thin, the Gold filling is very good and shows no brassing.  The CS100 was made with either one, three, or no Gold filled cap rings, this pen is the more desirable triple banded version with one wide and two narrow bands.

The 14 Ct. Gold Conway Stewart Duro nib is a large, handsome affair with performance to match.  It writes effortlessly with a super smooth broad line with the pleasing 'soft' feel of many top quality nibs.

The 1.5 cm. cap width gives the pen a decidedly 'chunky' appearance but when the cap is posted the huge 17cm. length is perfectly proportionate to the girth of the pen.

The Conway Stewart 100 is a rare and highly collectable, top quality vintage pen that has gained iconic status in the true sense of the word.  In terms of sheer presence it is very hard to beat.
